Night’s Rewards - Grendel


Lurking around the Mead Hall, I watch with wait. Thinking of all the food that I will soon devour. King Hrothgar, along with his men, were celebrating the bountiful harvest of the year. The bard tells countless stories of their gods and battles. I, Grendel, slowly but surely studied for my time to attack my prey. These humans are so idiotic, believing in a man that has betrayed them. When everyone started singing praises to their precious “King”, I lost all control.

Rage engulfed my entire being as I ripped the Mead Hall’s majestic structures. Men start to battle me, while women scream in horror at my presence. I laugh in amusement at the site of me throwing the humans around like little China Dolls. So fragile, that their bones crack within a mere instant. Hearing those sounds, pleases my Heart, filling it with delight. Gathering the fresh corpses in hand, I make my hast.

Once I am deep in the forest, I eat my fill. Savoring the flavor of every human that I partake. Listening to the other humans, whom morn for their lost ones, believing they are cursed by the Gods. Then my attention was drawn elsewhere, my stomach. It was grumbling, starting to digest its contents. I yawn and begin my way home for a long awaited rest.
